Mod 12: Update

Things are going well so far! I’ve been able to integrate the tooltip into my workbooks, but I am going to see if there is a way to enable both the tooltip function and the zoom functions. If I can’t do that, I will most likely drop the tooltip as I think that the zoom in/out function work better for my networks.

I had hit a roadblock earlier this week trying to figure out a way to embed Tableau visualizations into Observable. Originally, I had tried using iframes and kept getting an error where Tableau Public refused to connect: I got the feeling that there were security issues preventing Tableau Public from connecting the way it’s supposed to. However, as of literally five minutes ago, I discovered this notebook (x) that used a div to embed the Tableau share link in the notebook. It worked out for me as well, and with the placeholder div I think I can just shove all the code to the bottom of the notebook to keep it clean, and credit the author within my sources.

I also decided to stick with Observable to portray my project as 1) it is very convenient when embedding different cells across multiple notebooks and 2) keeps everything very orderly. There is some ‘customization’ with Observable as well, at least with the fonts and styles, so I figured it was smarter to stick with a platform I was more comfortable with rather than wrestling with Github when we’re so close to the end of the line!

See my DM on Slack re: the tooltip and Zoom.

Good find on the Observable embedding! This is yet another case of I should have double checked what has changed since I last taught the course, but it sounds like you have a sense of what you need to do there. LMK if you run into issues getting your embeds to work.
